I Fired Terry Porter

I just got done reading a great ESPN insider update that quoted Alvin Gentry about recent addition Hedo Turkoglu’s new role as a playmaker in the offense. They key is the way it is going to free up Steve Nash’s ability to catch and shoot the ball. A tool rarely able to be used because [...]

The are making their move. Granted, it’s a risky one, but I like it. The Suns will be trading Leandro Barbosa and Dwayne Jones for Hedo Turkoglu. ESPN Reports, “The 10-year NBA veteran averaged 11.3 points last season on 40.9 percent shooting, his lowest scoring average and shooting percentage in six years. As recently as [...]

This was posted this morning at 10:19 on ESPN Insider Rumors page “After a back injury has had him out since March 26, Robin Lopez hoped to return in the Suns’ current second-round series against the Spurs. But now up 3-0, will a possible short series mean Lopez likely won’t be back until the Western Conference [...]

Here is an amazing article about Grant Hill by J.A. Adande. It is definitely worth your time.

Basketball Prospectus writer Kevin Pelton does an excellent job of breaking down why the Lakers have been struggling to score the ball lately. Check it out so you can sound smart tonight in front of your friends! (Click the Headline)

Kevin Pelton tweeted me the link to the guys over at basketballvalue.com where you can find analysis and breakdowns of every team in the NBA by 5-man units. Here is the Suns… Because we are most important.

Here is the BEST decade in review I have seen so far. Not surprising that it came from one of my favorite writers, Kevin Pelton! Check it out! I particularly enjoy his references to the Largest and Smallest players in the league. So the Picture Below is still relevant. Thanks Mugsy and Manute!

It would be hard for me to argue in favor of picking a team other than the United States. But after watching the first few games of the FIBA World Championships, I see the U.S. as not only an obvious favorite, but nearly a mortal lock. That being said, there is no fun in knowing [...]

Here is the Suns.com breakdown of Goran winning the MVP. He had a triple double in one game, and led Slovenia to Gold. I am sure Goran and his brother Zoran have something in store for the teams waiting at FIBA August 28th. Slovenia is my official second favorite team in the Cup, and I think they will Medal over spain!

Disclaimer: This post will be presented by a COMPLETE SUNS HOMER tonight. YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Billy Idol’s Mony Mony is playing in the background of my mind!!!) The Phoenix Suns have a 3-0 lead on the Spurs. Second Disclaimer: If the Suns are the first team in NBA history to lose after being up 3-0 I am [...]

John Hollinger at has an ESPN Insider article about our boy MVSTEVE. In it he is evaluating who the greatest shooters in NBA history (3-point era only). For those of you who don’t get ESPN Insider, Here you go: A summary First Hollinger narrows the scope of the data down to 44 players by eliminating [...]

It’s an odd day for me to post something where I point out John Hollinger saying something about the Suns that’s remotely insightful. Earlier I gave props without to J Rich, John Hollinger, It’s your turn. Listen to the logic behind not trading Amar’e: ” Phoenix has been criticized in a lot of quarters for [...]

What makes a player Clutch?

Brandon and Troy (Laker fan Friends) This one is for you. Here is one of the better basketball bloggers the Basketball Geek from basketballgeek.com making it big and getting on the New York Times blog page. Here is his article about what makes  a player clutch. This is in line with the recent water-cooler debates Brandon and I have been getting in about Kobe… Luckily an expert helps with the facts.

with the help of basketball-reference.com’s and ESPN.com’s  statistical pages I was able to finish my look into the Suns. I just got done completing a little more research and I have decided in comparing the Suns now vs. previous years, I am going to exclude anything with 08 in it. The Shaq Suns were clearly [...]

MVP Debate: Here are the per 48 minute breakdowns of the leading MVP candidates and all-star point guards. I did the per 48 minutes for two reasons. First, There is a massive disparity only between Nash’s numbers and everyone else’s. In addition, Nash has his minutes strategically limited for the longevity of the season. I [...]

John Hollinger is someone who I disagree with constantly. I constantly berate the national media for not covering the Suns or doing in depth analysis to any teams outside of the Big 3 (Lakers, Cavs and Celtics). I guess it’s fitting that the first article looking REMOTELY “in depth” at the Suns by ESPN is [...]

Here it is! The Suns are talked about on my favorite basketball website, basketballprospectus.com

It’s about time guys.

Goran Dragic is the most recognizable player on the Slovenian team. During the first round of the Championships we have seen Goran excel at times, and struggle at times. His biggest struggles have come when he forces up too many shots from the perimeter and when he turns the ball over. Today’s performance to close [...]

Goran Dragic and Slovenia bested former Suns star Leandro Barbosa and his Brazil squad 80-77 and controlled the entire game leading into the fourth quarter. A nice comeback made for a great game on both counts as Slovenia held off a last quarter surge but Puerto Rico wasn’t able to hold off Hedo and Turkey. I am Puerto Rican, making this defeat particularly tough, because any chance I can mention it, I rep Puerto Rico… but to be honest, I was rooting for Hedo over J.J. Barrea (Mavericks Guard) … So it made it easy. I will let you chime in the World Championship debate over on valleyofthesuns.com… Just click the article to continue the conversation and get some extra details!

Goran Dragic was a pivotal player in Slovenia’s critical victory over Croatia. Read the details and about the Suns re-signing the recently traded Dwayne Jones back from Toronto. This fills a back-up center need for WHEN Robin Lopez and Channing Frye get into foul trouble.

The NBA released the 2010-2011 schedule and the Suns have it tough playing in the Western Conference – Here is a look at the Suns Back to Backs October 28th-29TH @ Utah Jazz – vs. L.A. Lakers November 7th-8th @ Atlanta Hawks -  @ Memphis Grizzles November 14th-15th @ L.A. Lakers – vs. Denver Nuggets [...]

Here is the article by the valleyofthesuns.com discussing the pick of Gani Lawal, the newest Suns player. I think this guy makes the squad for sure. Hopefully they use pick 60 to find a diamond in the rough.

Everyone knows since the inception of those student MVPuppets that the NBA wanted the Lebron vs. Kobe match-up in the NBA Finals. For years now, the NBA have been shoveling reports about the Lakers and Lebron. It seemed like for every article published about any NBA player, 2 were published about Lebron or the Lakers… [...]

Grant Hill announced that he will be staying with the Suns next year and will exercise his player option of 3.24 million dollars. WHAT A STEAL! Grant continued his loyalty to the Suns saying, “”Oh yeah,” Hill told AOL FanHouse. “I don’t plan on opting out. Even after this [contract], if I can still play and [...]

Kevin Pelton in his “EVERY PLAY COUNTS” section broke down the Pick N’ Roll being used in the Suns vs. Spurs series. Way Cool!

Today, on the cover of ESPN.com J.A. Adande wrote an article about the political statement the Suns are making in tonight’s game. Cinco De Mayo is tonight, and that would probably reason enough to dawn these jerseys. However, that’s not the reason. The Suns have announced that they are wearing the jersey to support the [...]

All of Planet Orange owes a big thank you to the Suns for allowing them to sleep easy last night.  Game 1 had several scary Spurs runs that had flashbacks runnings in my head, but luckily the Suns don’t hit the panic button quite as quickly as I do. MVSteve followed up the most dreadful [...]
